Wouldn't it be nice if every day was predictable and simple? That's never the case in a startup, of course.
We've been kicking off a number of marketing initiatives this year, and that combined with an improving economy and the marketing we've done last year have led to a sudden surge in activity. Not much revenue yet, but activity is an important precursor. Just a few weeks ago, we were leaving early and twiddling our thumbs by the end of the day, as nothing much seemed to be going on (the holidays probably didn't help). The urgent project which popped up on Christmas Eve turned out to be not so urgent after all, and is now scheduled for February. This week, the spigot opened. We've had several projects get green-lighted for February, and quite a few inquiries have come in over the transom. There's a chance we might get a writeup in TheStreet.com for a recent announcement (this would be our first significant national press coverage), as well as coverage from a more local perspective. The potential acquirer I mentioned a couple months ago is still expressing interest, and we've had a second company make similar inquiries. Oh, and did I mention that we're planning to move our production servers to a colocation facility in two weeks? I would hardly characterize the recent activity as "more than we can handle," but it certainly feels busier than it has before. Having dealt with too little activity, and seeing a taste of what too much might be like, I'll take the latter any day. Posted at 03:37 AM | Permalink | | | |
