MYOB, Round 2

My response to MYOB's E-mail:
Thank you for the prompt reply.

Unfortunately, you did not address--or even show any understanding of--my concerns about the risk of possible unexpected loss of access to my accounting software in the future.

I am, frankly, surprised that you don't seem to have more understanding of this issue, given that you deal with a product which is mission-critical to nearly all of your customers.

Specifically, I would like to know:

1) What redress will MYOB provide in the event that you are unable for whatever reason to reactivate my company data file and it becomes unusable?

2) What assurances--preferably contractually enforceable--will MYOB provide that it will never knowingly or willingly stop reactivating company data files for legitimate copies of the software?

3) What mechanism can you provide to assure me that, should MYOB go out of business or drop support for this version, I will be able to reactivate my company file without having to rely upon MYOB?

You need to understand that the risk you are presenting with this reactivation requirement is unacceptable. I am quite certain that the mission-critical software MYOB uses internally is not set up in such a way that it can be arbitrarily turned off by one of your outside vendors.
