You Cannot Escape Your Past

I really don't like to get involved in partisan sniping, but I have to comment on this Bush/AWOL thing.
How many of us are the same person we were 30 years ago? How many have done something in the past which we now regret?

I know there are some who argue that this is an important issue because we're now fighting a war in Iraq, but there has to be an element of reasonableness. Let's keep in mind that the social and political climate in the early 70's was much different than today (for starters, I was still babbling and drooling...well, maybe that hasn't changed).

Do we really want to say that everything anyone has ever done will be reexamined under the critical eye of future mores for an indefinite period?

I am not more determined than ever to not run for President.
