Here we go again....

The day Katrina hit, gas at our local Costco was $2.549/gallon, though some other local stations were as high as $2.799. Within a couple days, it was well over $3.00.
Today, Costco is selling gas at $2.449/gallon (who woulda thunk it would be below pre-Katrina prices?). Other nearby stations, though, have raised their price to $2.659.

As I understand it, Minneapolis (and the rest of the upper midwest) gets essentially none of its oil and gas from the Gulf. It all comes through Canada. Supply disruptions are not an issue for us.

But there comes a point when it is profitable enough to drive a tanker of gasoline from Minneapolis to points south that their supply disruptions begin to be felt here, even if only through higher prices.
