The news from New Orleans is getting grimmer and grimmer. Right now it looks like it could be weeks before residents are even allowed back in, and months before things even begin returning to normal. Since 80% of the city evacuated before Katrina hit (thankfully!), there are a lot of displaced families out there right now.
We're willing to put up a family in our home for the duration. We have a big great room in our house which can easily accommodate a family of five sleeping on sofas and the floor, and while it won't be just like home, we can promise food, shelter, warmth, and dryness in a welcoming suburban neighborhood outside Minneapolis with good schools. After a disaster of this magnitude, kids need some stability, and we can offer that while the family we host works to get life back to normal. I hope someone takes us up on the offer.
